My name is Rebecca Waterhouse and I am the Manager at Blacktown Meals on Wheels. I have been working in this role since May 2010. I come from a Community Development background and have had over 10 years experience in various roles within the local community, including the Housing Communities Program where I worked with public housing residents across Mt Druitt, engaging with local groups and supporting them to run projects and community development initiatives. I have also worked in Community Housing assisting people to improve their living standards when they are under housing stress, and those with high support needs.
I am responsible for the day-to-day operations and management of Blacktown Meals on Wheels, at both the Blacktown and Mount Druitt sites. Blacktown Meals on Wheels provides essential, nutritionally balanced meals and social events to clients and carers. We have very hard working and dedicated staff and volunteers who are committed to supporting our clients and their families.
Financial Administrator/ Assistant Manager
My name is Gizelle Thomas. This is my sixth year at Blacktown Meals on Wheels as the Assistant Manager/Bookkeeper. My main duties include payroll, accounts receivable and payable. I have 30 years experience in administration and accounting roles. I really enjoy my job and working closely with my colleagues. I also work with the volunteers and interact with the clients.
I am a keen sports spectator and a mother of 2 daughters and grandmother of 2 gorgeous boys.
My name is Amber Bulbert and I am the Coordinator for Blacktown Meals on Wheels in both Mount Druitt and Blacktown. I have worked for Meals on Wheels for over 5 years and I really enjoy my work. My role consists of coordinating the daily running’s of the Mount Druitt office, updating the database, and working on projects including outings and promotions. Financial duties and coordinating activities for the social days. I work closely with the manager in developing and updating training, policies and procedures. I am also the Work, Health and Safety officer at both sites and I am the Senior First Aid Officer in Mount Druitt. I have completed courses at TAFE which include Certificate IV in Business Administration, Certificate IV in Community Services and Diploma in Community Welfare.
Client Service Officer
My name is Heidi Langshaw and I am a Client Service Officer for Blacktown Meals on Wheels. Some of my duties include taking referrals, client and volunteer liaison, database maintenance, Volunteer rosters and engagement. I have been fortunate to be involved with Blacktown Meals on Wheels for over 6 years, engaged in different roles starting with Volunteer, Committee Member as well as various administrative roles.
My name is Mellissa Gregory and I have worked at Meals on Wheels for over 5 years. I started as a volunteer after doing childcare for 20 years. I am now the Senior Food Assistant which involves packing meals for clients, ordering the meals from suppliers, stock control and overseeing the running of the kitchen.
My name is Jill and I have worked for Meals on Wheels for just over 6 years as a Food Assistant/Packer. My background is in aged care which was my career for 10 years. I came from the UK in 1972 and have 3 children and 5 gorgeous grandchildren.
My name is Hati and I have been working at Blacktown Meals on Wheels as a cook since mid-2015. I came into this role after 3 years experience in commercial cookery in various hotels/pubs. In my role at Meals on Wheels, I prepare and cook meals for the Social Group and cultural days at Blacktown and also other special events as required.
Cook – MD
My name is Maria. I have been working at the Mount Druitt site of Meals on Wheels as a cook since April 2016. My role requires me to cook nutritious and wholesome meals for the clients who attend the center on Mondays and Fridays. The enjoy playing games of bingo and also enjoy morning tea, entrée, main meal and dessert.
Food Assistant – MD
My name is Sharon, I am married and have 2 teenage children. I enjoy cooking and craft and I love dogs. I have been working at Mount Druitt since July 2015. My role as food assistant is to pack meals for clients in their home. I enjoy being a job that cares for and serves people in the community.
